What You Can Expect
Birth
Whether you’re a first time mother or a seasoned mother, I support all women and their partners during the process of labor and delivery. My goal is to help families achieve their positive birth experience. During our prenatal appointments we discuss what kind of birth you’re interested in and construct a birth plan to fit your preferences. We practice various laboring positions and get a feel for options available to you in your birth space. I do not take the place of a partner, instead I create room for them to get involved and best support you. When you’re ready, I’ll meet you and support you during labor and baby’s delivery. I will assist you with initiating breastfeeding/feeding after birth.
Birth without fear, birth with support, birth your way.
Postpartum
During this newborn period, I help women rest and bond. Birth is an exhausting process and moms and families need space to recover and heal as well as bond with their precious baby. Here is where I prepare snacks and meals, help out with dishes and laundry, and provide space to process your birth. Families enjoy the ability to bond with their newborn, catch up on sleep, get in a long shower, or enjoy a nice meal all while their baby is well cared for. I can help answer questions regarding normal newborn behavior and what to expect during this newborn period. Mothers can expect attentive care, comforting conversation, understanding support, and practical solutions. I also provide support for the partner and the new family dynamic, provide parenting options and nonjudgemental suggestions.
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding opens the door to an amazing bond between mother and baby. As a certified lactation counselor, I can help mothers who might be facing challenges with breastfeeding. It may be a natural process but that doesn’t always make it easy! If your goal is to breastfeed, my goal is to make sure you are encouraged and supported. From understanding normal newborn behavior with breastfeeding to helping women overcome latch and/or supply issues, I’m here to make sure you’re feeling supported and confident in this journey.
Go ahead, nurse on.
Nutrition
Nutrition is crucial to conception, having a healthy baby and pregnancy, and during postpartum. Research supports decreased risk of many issues during pregnancy (gestational diabetes, pre eclampsia, high blood pressure, preterm birth, baby having low birth weight and more) when mothers meet their increased nutritional needs during before and during pregnancy. In the fourth trimester, postpartum mood disorders and depletion are strongly linked to nutritional deficiencies. I can support you with education, recipes, meal planning, and help you meet your nutritional needs. I can also prepare meals for you and your family to support your postpartum recovery.
“I definitely underestimated how hard it would be adjusting to the transition of motherhood, but with Mandie’s help, I was able to get in some rest, bond with my sweet girl and fully give into becoming a mom.”
